"What are the distinctive advantages of a Simulation course? ... Experiential vs. Didactic...?"

Taught for Telework/Collaboration training

Trust needs to be built slowly, over a period of time, over several "exchanges." The simulation provides a series of such exchanges. There are six "rounds" corresponding to six "fiscall years". Participants get six experiences.

Fear needs to be lessened in order to build trust.

Making decisions that may lead to lost income begets fear.

Making major decisions that impact at the strategic level of the corporation begets fear.

Fear is drastically diminished by going through several experiences that demonstrate that these fears were not justified. Going through our training program, participants see that the income and the decisions are virtual. So the penalty is nil. When the fear factor is pushed aside, participants are free to learn how to concentrate on making these decisions and hone their collaboration skills. Using a simulation to provide such fear-free experiences is a very effective teaching tool.

The simulation comes the closest possible to real-life business issues in professional collaboration but there are no real money loss and there are no real strategic or important decisions made. The teaching process is also risk-free for your organization.

Only the communication and the collaboration are real.

Taught as a mini-MBA

Hands-on experience teaches better and faster.

- Lessons anchor in mind and emotions.

- Dry financial data comes to life.

- Moves people out of their comfort zone.

Adults learn best from hands-on, problem-solving activities: Each team runs a CapstoneŽ $100 million company for 6 years - making every key decision from Finance, Sales, R&D, and Production to Economic projections. Participants operate in a competitive marketplace and experience the positive - and negative - implications of every business decision.

Adults must believe the learning must have personal benefit: To succeed in business, managers need applied training and practical skills.

CapstoneŽ provides the skill, learning and experiences participants know they can use, in business and organizations every day. Adults have a depth of experiences that should be tapped and built upon:

CapstoneŽ seminars are interactive, team building programs, designed to draw out existing experience to be shared in a new environment. Adults need to apply new knowledge and skills immediately to aid retention: The day your managers/staff complete their CapstoneŽ training session, they can implement what they have learned at their workplace.
